‘If you drink much from a bottle marked ‘poison’, it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later.’
– Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Poisonings are among the most memorable deaths in history, from the Roman Empire to the Medieval era and beyond. Concealed and deliberate, it’s a crime that must be planned in advance. And yet there is a fine line between healing and poisoning – Paracelsus argued that only the dosage matters!
In Botanical Curses and Poisons, Fez Inkwright returns to folkloric and historical archives to uncover historical uses and the fascinating, untold stories behind deadly plants, witching herbs and fungi.
Beautifully illustrated by Inkwright, this treasury of folklore is packed with insight, lore and the revealed mysteries of everyday flora – perfect for gardeners, writers, folklorists, witches and general knowledge buffs alike!
Fez Inkwright is an illustrator, author, and folklorist. Her greatest passions are botany, nature, primitive religions, and folklore, which flavour most of her work. For the past eight years she has produced work for children’s books, hand-drawn maps, and tattoo design, and now spends her time indulging in conservation work and writing. She lives in Bristol, UK, with two cats and several hundred bees.
Ivy Berces is a student-illustrator born and based in Manila, Philippines. She shares her magical art online as Prinsomnia, her plant-loving persona, as well as compiling a plant-based character design project under the same name called Project Plantare.

When she’s away from the daily grind for commissions or school work, Ivy loves tending to her lush rooftop garden where she relishes her love for plants, books, and tarot cards.

This blog post is written from my own personal experience as a self-described vegan-ish flexitarian, with a lot of help from Sara Botero‘s insightful new guidebook The Essential Vegan Toolkit. I’m not an expert on this topic and I do not claim to speak for everybody!
While some of us are still trying to wake up after the holidays, January has decided rather rudely to continue moving forward – leaving us nearly two weeks into 2020 already! And if you made a new year’s resolution, there’s a good chance you’re struggling with it at this point. An estimated 80% of resolutions are failed or forgotten by February each year. There are a lot of reasons for this, a huge one being that many people see a one-time step off the so-called righteous path as a reason to quit entirely.
View PostWe’re thrilled to announce our first spring 2020 publication – and our first graphic novel! The Garden, publishing in May 2020, is a beautiful story of growth and healing through mindfulness and gardening.
From two of our all-time favourite comics creators, Sean Michael Wilson and Fumio Obata, The Garden is a beautiful, soulful work that you simply won’t want to miss!

Natalie Dormady
It’s a new year, and for many it’s a time of renewal and working toward a better relationship with themselves. We could all probably do with some self-compassion after the excess and family tensions that often come with the holidays, coupled with the deep darkness we experience in the winter (in our part of the world, at least!).
That’s why we’ve published 365 Gentle Reminders (just £9.99 during January 2020), a page-a-day book of positive, uplifting reminders illustrated by the inspiring Natalie Dormady. After battling with mental illnesses, Natalie found her passion for art while on her recovery journey, and she’s been sharing her Gentle Reminders on Instagram for a few years now. Sacred animal spirits (‘Numen’) are interwoven into the classical imagery of the tarot to create stunning cards that are both otherworldly and yet highly contemporary.
White Numen Tarot is an exemplary example of the very best that modern tarot can deliver and has been highly praised by the Tarot Community. These are cards that feel truly alive.
Our ancestors knew how to tremble in the presence of that little abyss within the eyes of a beast. They knew how to recognize the bond with creatures radically different from themselves, whom they venerated, but at the same time whose death meant food, thus life. This ancient conflict reveals the connection between the sacred and the sacrificial and how rituals of cyclic regeneration evolved. Today, humans continue to feel conflicted by our sometimes-violent relationship to the natural world. The images of Numen (sacred spirits) in this deck seek to symbolically close that wound – this is a new kind of ritual for healing and connecting and a chance to rebuild our bond with animals
AlbaBG was born in a hot day of 199X somwhere along the Mediterranean. She co-founded Weba! Studio (animation and indie-games) while finishing her major in Fine Arts, where she continues to work as Art Director… (read more)
